He will also return to the Metropolitan Opera as Second Priest in the holiday production of The Magic Flute. Morrongiello will make a series of exciting company debuts including at Arizona Opera as Monostatos in Die Zauberflöte, Opera Las Vegas as Miles Zegner in Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s Proving Up, and with Brooklyn Art Song Society in works by Iain Bell and Ian Venables. Morrongiello joined the prestigious rosters of the Lyric Opera of Chicago as the cover of Monostatos in The Magic Flute, and the Metropolitan Opera where he made his debut as the Dean in Cinderella, covered Don Curzio and Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro, sang Player 2 in Brett Dean’s Hamlet, and covered Sellem in The Rake’s Progress. Known for his “agile character tenor” and “over-the-top committed” portrayals, tenor Dylan Anthony Morrongiello is an emerging force in the highly sought-after supporting repertoire of the operatic canon.
